Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in the God my Savior. The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to go on to the heights. (NIV)

We thank and praise God for the Program Planning Committee and the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of the National Convocation for the development of this encouraging and challenging theme for our 22nd Biennial Session of the National Convocation. Although we adopt the idea of being a New Testament Church, we realize that the Old Testament, also known as “God’s Picture Book”, gives the New Testament a solid foundation upon which to stand as it relates to the fulfilling of prophecies in Christ Jesus. Our theme comes from the prophetic writings of Habakkuk. This is one of the briefest books of prophecy but it is rich in spiritual nourishment. Habakkuk has several keynote verses that the Holy spirit brings to mind when we need them. You remember: 2:2 “Write the vision make and it plain on the tablets so that a herald may run with it”; 2:4 “the just shall live by faith”; and 2:20 “the Lord is in his Holy Temple let all the earth keep silent before him.” These few verses give us just a glimpse of what is in store for us as we will gather in Houston, Texas July 25-29, 2012. Our selected theme text from the third chapter comes in the midst of the prophet taking off on a flight of faith in eloquent response and reply to the circumstances the people, who receive this dynamic word, are existing. The prophet is not ashamed to declare that even in the face of adversity, bad times, hard times, pain and sorrow God is still there to comfort and strengthen His people and to see them through to the promise of His blessing. There is something amazingly true about the great faithfulness of God to those who put their trust in Him.
